A Richer Day — Dog Enrichment Beyond the Walk

When: Friday, August 7th 6:30 pm
Where: Dogma Facility

Cost: Free to members!
           Non Member: $15

The walk is not enough. A daily walk meets the physical minimum but leaves a significant mental gap. Boredom, frustration, destructive behaviour, and restlessness are often not behaviour problems at all. They are enrichment problems. And the solution is simpler than most people think.

This seminar cuts through the noise of a very crowded online conversation and gives you a grounded, science-based understanding of what enrichment actually is, why it matters, and how to build it into a real day without a dedicated budget, a cupboard full of toys, or an hour of extra time you do not have.

Led by Dogma's Director of Behaviour and Education, Shelley Cherniawsky, A Richer Day covers the different types of enrichment — sniff work, problem solving, social connection, novelty, and rest — and how to match what you offer to what your specific dog actually needs. Because enrichment is not one-size-fits-all, and the internet's version of it often is.

You will leave with a clear framework, practical ideas you can implement the same week, and a much better understanding of what your dog is telling you when they seem restless, bored, or just a little too much.

Owners only. No dogs attend. Bring your questions and your best "my dog destroyed the couch" story — you will not be alone.

Family Ties — Helping Kids and Dogs Thrive as a Family

When: Friday, September 11th 6:30 pm
Where: Dogma Facility

Cost: Free to members!
           Non Member: $15

Children and dogs can become the very best of friends—but those relationships rarely happen by chance. Like any great relationship, they are built through understanding, communication, and setting everyone up for success.

Whether you're expecting your first baby, navigating life with toddlers, or helping older children/dogs build confidence with each other, this seminar will give you the knowledge and practical tools to create safe, positive interactions that benefit the whole family. Many of the challenges we see between children and dogs don't come from "bad" dogs or "bad" kids—they come from misunderstandings, unrealistic expectations, and missed communication.

Led by Dogma's Director of Behaviour and Education, Shelley Cherniawsky, Family Ties explores how dogs experience the world around children, how to recognize early signs of stress before they become a problem, and how to teach both dogs and kids the skills they need to thrive together. We'll cover common household scenarios, supervision strategies, body language, realistic expectations for every stage of childhood, and simple ways to help your dog feel safe, confident, and included as your family grows.

You'll leave with practical strategies you can implement immediately, a deeper understanding of your dog's perspective, and the confidence to build a relationship between your children and your dog that is based on trust, respect, and lifelong friendship.

Owners only. No dogs attend. Whether you're planning for the future or already sharing your home with children and dogs, bring your questions—we're here to help your whole family thrive together.
