We recognized that not everyone wants to work with behaviour. Or perhaps you recognize how dog training is crucial for your current dog professional work. This program is a scaled down version of our DCBC program, but gives you everything you need to start your professional dog trainer career soon.
We have been teaching people to become dog trainers since 2009. Previously, we offered our most comprehensive program for students to earn their DCBC designation, along with our scaled down Behaviour & Handling certificate. As our industry progresses, more pet professionals are recognizing the need to have a formal education in dog training to allow them to better assist the dogs in their care.
To help with this, we have created the DDT program. This program covers everything you need to start your dog training career, excluding behaviour work. However, you will have the opportunity to upgrade your program at a reduced rate for one year after graduation. Investing in your education will allow you to be more successful in your career and ensure you are helping to improve the behaviour of the dogs in your career. It is ideal for dog walkers, and owners or senior team of dog service providers such as pet sitters, groomers, daycare and boarding facilities.
We are now accepting registration for our first intake of DDT apprenticeship students until November 30, 2019.

Program Details
- 18 years or older
- Access to a dog for training
- Physical capability to handle dogs of different sizes and activity levels
- Agree to sign a Code of Ethics to commit to reward-based methods during your time as a student and as a graduate representing the DDT and/or DCBC designation.
- Abide by requirements outlined in Student Handbook
- Commit to obtaining their CPDT-KA within 2 years after graduating to maintain their DCBC designation
DDT Theory (over 50 hours):

Practical Experience (over 200 hours):
- Minimum 90 hours of group class observation/assistance
- Minimum 30 hours of hands on dog day school experience
- Successfully complete Foundations and Focus & Reliability with one dog.
- Minimum 18 hours of co-teaching group dog classes
- Opportunity to observe/assist in any of dogma’s service offerings (excluding DCBC exclusive options if you are just completing DDT)
- Attend a 3-day workshop on Foundations & Off-Leash Play
Additional Certifications (within DDT):
- Pet First Aid Certificate
- Handling Certificate
