dogma is the local leader in assisting with complex dog behaviours, such as reactivity and fear. Lately we have noticed a substantial increase in dogs with these concerns. Each case could have been prevented with proper owner education. In most cases, these problems developed because the dog owner(s) did not attend puppy classes or actively socialize their dog(s). We have also observed a concerning number of dogs trained by aversive techniques (e.g. dominance theories, choke chains), which are experiencing serious fall-out from these methods.

dogma believes in education. It is our mission to improve canine reputations and prevent the surrendering/re-homing of dogs. We believe puppy classes are a crucial part of the process. So we're stepping it up and getting even more proactive! We're proud to now offer FREE puppy classes for dogs up to the age of 20 weeks! Classes will run for an hour, four times per week. Add that up - it means you can attend a total of 40 classes at no cost!

Who: Puppies between the ages of 10 - 20 weeks
Requirements: Second round of vaccinations
Cost: FREE!
When: Monday's at 6:30 pm
           Wednesday's at 6:30 pm
           Saturday's at 1:00 pm

What we will cover:

• How to actively socialize your puppy
• Handling
• Grooming
• Nutrition
• Basic obedience skills, including coming when called and how to walk nicely on leash
• Overall manners
• Appropriate play
• Introduction to a variety of novel items (strangers, sounds, surfaces and a wide variety of other things your puppy will be meet throughout his/her life)
• Confidence building
• Canine communication
• How dogs learn
• Exercises to prevent common behaviour problems
• Behaviour problem solving for common puppy concerns
• Many more important tools and topics to get you and your puppy started off on the right foot/paw!

No need to register for these classes. Just show up as soon as your puppy has received their second round of vaccinations.

We are reward based and do use food in training. Please bring small treats with you to class. Even if you have been taught or are using different training methods, you will be required to follow our approach in order to attend these free classes. Our main reason for offering free classes is to ensure all puppies are given the opportunity to be exposed to and taught through humane and modern methods.

These are drop-in classes, but you must be on time for the class. We start right away at 6:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. and run the full hour. The door locks at class start and you must attend the full hour class to receive credit of your attendance.

You will have a welcome package emailed to you after your first night.

A copy of your dog's vaccination records is required to attend. Please bring proof of vaccination on your first night.
